Rye Island House
Set above Port Chester Harbor, this newly completed residence brings a modern, quietly detailed approach to interior design. The home is shaped by clear lines, balanced proportions, and honest materials, creating a cohesive environment that feels both refined and comfortable.
The entry sequence establishes the design language immediately. A custom wood-and-metal ceiling anchors the foyer, setting the tone with its mix of natural warmth and crisp detailing. On either side, the living and dining rooms open through clean millwork portals. Subtle metal inlays in the flooring mark each transition, guiding you from one space to the next.
In the dining room, modern, natural-toned furnishings sit against a walnut feature wall made of symmetrical door panels. These panels, mounted on concealed harmon hinges, fold away completely to open the dining and living room into a single connected space, or close for privacy when needed.
The living room is defined by a wood accent ceiling with recessed trough lighting, a custom stone fireplace, and a streamlined ledge and bookshelf that add both storage and architectural rhythm. The family room takes on a slightly more formal tone, with curved sofas oriented toward a monolithic fireplace. A discreet doorway leads to a quiet, tucked-away study.
A glass-enclosed stair tower acts as the home’s vertical light well, drawing daylight deep into the interior and keeping all levels visually connected. Throughout the interior, the furnishings and accessories are selected to reinforce the architecture.
In the master suite, a free-standing tub is positioned to overlook the water, becoming the focal point of the space. Custom fluted walnut vanities with marble tops carry the home’s palette of clean lines and warm, textured materials into the bath.
