An alternative to the very common Hamptons shingle style home is the contemporary barn we are designing for our developer client. It’s not just a home but a different life style – the barn features an open living atmosphere that enhances the relaxed feeling of the Hamptons experience.
The barn’s basic concept is to create a smaller and more affordable living alternate in the Hamptons or any summer resort area in the northeast (Berkshires, Vermont, etc.) and supply a much needed alternative to the overdone, at this point, shingle-style home. These homes are to be located on one-half acre to one acre lots and should be between 3500 to 4000 square feet.
Our concept was to create a very clean and contemporary lifestyle housed within a barn-like atmosphere but with very modern detailing. Our goal was to also make it fun. The barn features an open living space adjacent to the kitchen and dining. We wanted a relaxed Hamptons experience. Based on a few variables, that will be offered in the plans. We developed multiple elevations, all supporting this barn concept and giving clients the ability to choose a façade.
This project was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to the first finished product.
